Annual Maintenance LAARS MFTCW

Annual Maintenance of LAARS MFTCW

Annual Flushing of CH Heat Exchanger as outlined in the I/O Manual Section 8 , pages 75-77.
1

For proper flushing of the heat exchanger the Laars MFTCW (Combi) boilers the boiler must be powered ON  AND a call for CH (Heat) must be established to assure proper positioning of the three way valve in heating mode.

In addition to flushing of the CH Heat Exchanger,  as referenced above, components and "safeties" should be visually checked and tested as required:
  1. Pressure Relief Valve
  2. Pressure Reducing Feed Valve (external)
  3. Auto Air Vents
  4. High Temperature Limit (water)
  5. High Temperature Limit (combustion)
  6. Low Water Cut Off ( Internal and External if so equipped)
  7. Exhaust Temperature Limit
  8. Optical Flame Sensor
  9. Check all Zone Pumps and/or Zone Valves
  10. Check Boiler Pump
  11. Check Expansion Tank (proper pressure and condition)
  12. Vent and Intake Piping (proper pitch maintained) free of obstructions and bird screen integrity.
  13. Check Condensate Trap (internal for cleanliness and free of obstruction)
  14. Check effectiveness of Condensate Neutralizer (replace media or device as necessary)
  15. MFTCW140-Check Burner Screen ( Burner Screen is only on 140,000 BTU Models).
AN ANNUAL COMBUSTION ANALYSIS IS REQUIRED !

Gas Set Up and Adjustments are outlined in section 4.11 pages 35-36 of the I/O Manual.
The Videos below take you through proper combustion analysis, set up and adjustments.

If proper combustion results can not be achieved , burner removal and burner plate cleaning and/or replacement may be necessary !
